ADDRESSING THE SHIPPING INDUSTRY'S CREWING NEEDS NOW & BEYOND COVID-19 - Short Term Responses & Longer - Term Pursuits
Difficulties in crew changes, addressing the well-being of the crews and dealing with crew restrictions when it comes to drydocking and newbuilding deliveries are among the challenges shipping companies face today. Looking ahead, beyond the need to respond to challenges presented by the current crisis, shipping companies aim to ensure the long-term availability of seafarers, who are the backbone of the shipping industry. The panel will discuss how major companies look at the global crewing landscape (including major hubs, such as the Ukraine, the Philippines, India, Indonesia and China) and what needs to be done to ensure an adequate supply of seafarers.
