About Safe Bulkers (SB)
- Safe Bulkers is an international provider of marine dry bulk transportation services, transporting bulk cargoes, particularly coal, grain and iron ore, along worldwide shipping routes for some of the world’s largest users of marine drybulk transportation services.
- As of January 2022 the Company’s existing fleet of 39 dry bulk vessels consists of 12 Panamax, 7 Kamsarmax, 15 Post-Panamax and 5 Capesize class vessels with an average age of 10.3 years and an aggregate carrying capacity of 3.7 million dwt. 80% of Safe Bulkers fleet has been built in Japanese shipyards.
- In addition, the newbuilding orderbook of the Company consists of 9 dry bulk vessels, 6 of which are Kamsarmax and 3 Post-Panamax class vessels with an aggregate carrying capacity of 0.8 million dwt and deliveries from Q2 2022 until Q1 2024. All newbuilds have been placed in Japanese shipyards. They are designed to meet the Phase 3 requirements of Energy Efficiency Design Index related to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions – GHG -EEDI Phase 3 as adopted by the International Maritime Organization – IMO and with the latest NOx emissions regulation, NOx-Tier III (IMO, MARPOL Annex VI, reg. 13).
- The Company’s common stock, Series C and Series D preferred stock is listed on the NYSE, where it trades under the symbols “SB”, “SB.PR.C” and “SB.PR.D”, respectively.
